One of the best ways to learn about events that occurred in the past is by looking through old newspapers. Sometimes, you can rediscover things that have been forgotten over time by reading the original stories and articles, as published in the periodicals of the day.

Today, it’s possible to go online and view many historical newspapers from around the world, including some of the ones published right here in Crowsnest Pass. Continue reading »

Harvest of Memories Gala

With autumn just around the corner, it can only mean one thing … it’s time for the annual Harvest of Memories Gala in Crowsnest Pass. This fundraising event is organized by the Crowsnest Historical Society, and all proceeds go toward supporting the continued operation of the Crowsnest Museum & Archives. Fishing for Bulls and Cutts

Mill Creek_009_082316

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been chasing bull and cutthroat trout on several of our local streams. My first outing was with a friend, Terry Maurer, on a small stream known to hold big bull trout at this time of year. My second trip was on the upper Oldman River, where I spent the day fishing for cutthroat trout with another friend, Bob Costa. Both days were productive and interesting, in their own way. Huckleberry Country – Straight Ahead

It’s late August, which means it’s huckleberry season in the mountains of southwest Alberta. Picking huckleberries is something I try to do at least once or twice each summer. Most of the rivers and streams were in great shape right from the get-go, and the fishing was productive when the season officially opened in mid-June. That doesn’t happen every year. Welcome to My Website and Blog

Welcome to my photography website! The idea of creating this website and blog is something I’ve been thinking about and planning for quite some time. It’s funny how some things always take longer to complete than you expect, or hope. That was the case here, but at long last I’m glad to finally be able to launch my website. Continue reading »
